9/17/2023 0 Comments Radiohead in limbo kid 17![]() I can't think of a single other act that sells as much as they do while still having utter integrity and such a willingness to experiment (except for maaaaaybe old Madonna, but she was still working well within a pop template). It's probably a very cheesy 'Radiohead-fan' thing to say, but I think their mix of fairly highbrow artistic intentions while pushing at the limits of what it is to be in a multi-million selling 'rock band' is just unparalleled in music today. Treefingers is hugely underrated a gorgeous, cold song, it sounds like the ringing you get in your ears after a gunshot or an icey landscape full of icebergs. It hit the nail on the head with the modern alienation themes that Radiohead play with without being as blatant and obvious as OK Computer's was at times. How the hell is How to Disappear Completely the worst on the album or worst than In Limbo HTDC is a masterpiece, beautiful emotional vocals, amazing lyrics, and musically fantastic. I think Kid A's entire art aesthetic is brilliant, probably my favourite of all their albums. Youre living in a fantasy world Youre living in a fantasy world. such an awesome little easter egg, and I wonder how many people have had that disc for 10 years now without realizing it's there? Just looking at the CD case and I noticed something behind the black jewel case. Yeah, and the best thing was that I didn't even know it would be there. Also, how did you feel about Kid A when it was released and how do you feel about it now? To broaden the thread out a little bit, if anyone else has favourite cover versions go ahead and post them, especially if you've been able to piece together a whole album worth. In the roiling waves of this song's soundscape, Jonny/Thom's simple, cyclical little triplet riffs are transformed into flotsam from a shipwreck. Thile's entire set is up as a video and the highlights are available on MP3 (Morning Bell is not on it, such a shame). 9.5.can't think of another relatively minor RH song that is as enhanced by production choices as this one. It's from a show called the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour and it's a great listen for the folk-minded. My personal favourite find is the Chris Thile track, it's such an amazing interpretation. And I find it odd that nobody else but Hanson has covered In Limbo properly, and I'm damned if I'm putting my name to a mix that has Hanson on it.ĮDIT: Hanson actually covered Optimistic. It's not perfect, there are two Alex Schaaf songs for instance (although one is just an interlude with no vocals, so it's ok by my rules). 295 Karma Police (song), 10, 17, 21, 2324, Itch, 51, 173-174. The whole album can be downloaded as an MP3 here.
